Inspiration

As I begin to work on my new portfolio, I am hoping to gain much inspiration from art.  There are photographs that are memories, ones that tell a story or reveal something true about the subject, and then there are photographs that are artful and evoke emotion.  I love all of the above and hope to be able to produce a broad range of photographs.  Today I shot with Laura (my associate photog for Watermelon Photography) and I got a chance to shoot with an open mind and no expectations from parents.  I loved the freedom. I have so many beautiful shots from tonight, but these suited my mood perfectly. <3

My Blue Suede (or Purple Patent Leather) Shoes

Let me begin by saying that having two X chromosomes does not qualify you to plan a wedding.  And it surprises me just how much all this planning erks me, I should be excited! I think I peaked way too early in my wedding planning experience.  In the first month, I bought the perfect dress, booked the perfect beach venue, planned the perfect menu, and picked out the perfect first dance song.  And all along I have known that nothing compares to finding the perect man, which I have.  So what's left? Well.  There is the preacher and the logistics of getting him to Florida, the groomsmen attire, the gazillion options of flowers, place cards, musicians for the ceremony, a wedding cake, a grooms cake, shoes, and a thousand other details that you would never think of.  Well now, I can cross shoes off my list because I have found the perfect pair, well, they found me.  Sitting at the very end of the very last isle at DSW were the funkiest purple shoes and right at that moment I decided that a splash of purple was just what my ivory dress needed.

A sneak peek for Kristin

Just a few shots from my bridal session with Kristin yesterday.  She had such a wonderful personality and braved the cold weather like a champ.

Erika and Ryan

Today is an all day edit-fest.  Just wanted to post one more from last night.  This is one of my favorites.  Not sure why, I think it is the composition and her smile, but I love it.  I will do one more post later tonight of the reception and ceremony.

Borders and Actions and Templates, Oh my!

I have been in front of the computer all day (not that this is incredibly abnormal) but this time, I have been putting together my portfolio work for my website.  I am not exactly close to launching a website, I still have much portfolio developing to do, but I am confident that it will be shining when it finally happens.  If you would like to be a part of my portfolio building by booking a Trash the Dress, bridal, engagement or senior session please let me know.  Of course, I am also taking wedding offers so please email me if you are interested.  For now, I am using my children's photography email address: info@watermelon-photography.com.

my first shot at trashing a dress

We explored Downtown McKinney tonight and found some awesome locations. I will be updating this post throughout the week with more edits.

If you have been thinking about doing a TTD shoot, you should! It was a ton of fun and a great excuse to get back in your dress.
